    Women’s Lacrosse Rally Falls Short at Farmingdale, 15-14 FARMINGDALE, NY – The Western Connecticut women’s lacrosse team staged a fierce rally, however, the comeback fell short as they were outlasted at non-conference foe Farmingdale State, 15-14, on Wednesday night. Senior shortstop EJ Lavoie (East Granby, CT) paced WestConn with a 4-for-5 performance, while driving in four runs. The nightcap saw WestConn get edged by St. Joseph's (LI), 9-7. The Colonials upended Wisconsin-Stout, 20-3, in the opener before falling to Wooster, 12-5, in Game Two. Senior first baseman Frank Vartuli (Westport, CT) racked up five RBI’s, while junior Clete LoRusso (New Milford, CT) drove in four to lead WestConn against Stout.     Baseball Opens Slate With Doubleheader Sweep Over Marymount WASHINGTON, DC - Sophomore right-handed reliever Taylor Donofrio (Terryville, CT) notched a pair of saves to lead the Western baseball team to a pair of wins over non-league foe Marymount (VA) in to open the 2017 season on Sunday. Senior catcher Bryan Harper (Ledyard, CT) and junior third baseman Bill Buscetto (Old Lyme, CT) each tallied two hits and three RBI's to lead the Colonials to a 12-9 win in the opener. In game two, Western senior first baseman Frank Vartuli (Westport, CT) went two-for-three from the plate with a pair of runs scored en route to a 5-1 win.
