Western men's lacrosse cruise past Privateers, 16-7

DANBURY, CT - Western Connecticut State University sophomore attack Nate Wilson (Norwich, CT) scored four goals and assisted on another as the Colonials cruised to a 16-7 victory over visiting Maritime College at The WAC on Wednesday night.

The Colonials, now 2-2 on the season, raced out to an 8-0 lead at the break and increased the lead to a dozen, 13-1 following an unassisted goal by Wilson at the 4:21 mark of the third quarter.  He now leads Western with 11 goals in four games.
Ryan Foster (Ledyard, CT), Jake Pantani (Branford, CT) and Logan Yelle (Branford, CT) each scored two goals for the winners.  Foster racked up four total point with a pair of assists.
For Maritime, now 1-4, Neil Nembhard (Commack, NY) scored two goals and five others tallied a goal apiece.
The highlight for the Privateers came in the face-off circle as Matt Hayes (Baldwin, NY) won 20 of 24 face-offs on the night.  He also led all players with 20 ground balls.
Zach Bartlett (East Lyme, CT) led Western with 11 ground balls.
Western used four different goalies with Kevin Seery (East Lyme, CT) toting the bulk of the action with 12 saves over 41 minutes.  
For the Privateers, Mike Arnold (Monroe Township, NJ) suffered the loss, allowing 14 goals and making seven saves through three quarters.  Alexander Heim (Youngstown, NY) made three saves in the final stanza.
The Colonials play host to Vassar College on Friday, March 14.  Face-off is slated for 4:30 pm.
