Men's lacrosse holds on for 10-8 win over University of New England in Maryland

WESTMINSTER, MD -- Western Connecticut State University scored seven times in the middle two periods and held on down the stretch for a 10-8 victory over the University of New England in non-conference men's lacrosse action Wednesday morning at Gill Stadium on the campus of McDaniel College.

Kevin Seery (East Lyme, CT) has a stellar game between the pipes for the Colonials, now 3-3.  He registered 13 saves for the winners.

Leading the Western offense was John Foristall (Danbury, CT) who had three goals and an assist.  Sophomore attack Jake Pantani (Branford, CT) added a pair of goals and an assist will Ryan Foster (Ledyard, CT) chipped in a goal and two assist for the winners.

The Colonials scored seven of their 10 goals in the second and third quarters.  Foritall's third goal of the afternoon, off a feed from Pantani, gave Western a 9-4 advantage 1:17 into the final stanza and capped off five straight goals by the winners.

UNE scored four of the game's next five goals, but it was not enough to overcome its deficit before the final horn sounded.

Dan Auger and Shamus Higginbott each scored two goals for the Nor'easters which drop to 3-4 on the year.

Western takes on Gwynedd-Mercy University at 4 pm on Thursday, on its way back from The Charm City, in Gwynedd Valley, PA.
