Slow start dooms Western men in 21-10 loss at Gwynedd Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA - The Western Connecticut State University men's lacrosse team only scored one of the game's first ten goals as it suffered a 21-10 loss at Gwynedd Mercy Thursday morning.

Gwynedd Mercy scored in the game's first minute, and led 4-0 before senior Ryan Foster (Ledyard, CT) got Western on the board. 

Gwynedd Mercy scored the final four goals of the first quarter and then outscored Western 2-1 in the second period to take a 10-2 lead at halftime.

Western scored three of the first four goals in the third quarter to narrow the margin to 11-5, but still trailed by six at the end of the third, 14-8.

Gwynedd Mercy scored seven of the first eight goals in the fourth as it pulled away down the stretch for a 21-10 win over the Colonials.

With the loss, Western falls to 3-4 on the season, while Gwynedd Mercy improves to 4-2.  The Colonials return to action on Wednesday, March 26, when they travel to play Trinity (CT).  Game time is slated for 4:00pm.
