DANBURY, CT - The Western Connecticut State University men's lacrosse team secured a fourth seed for the upcoming Little East Conference Tournament with its 10-3 victory over University of Southern Maine at The WAC on Saturday afternoon.
The Colonials, 7-9 overall and 4-3 in the LEC, will play host to Plymouth State University on Tuesday, April 29 at 4 pm in the conference quarterfinals.
Against the Huskies, Nate Wilson (Norwich, CT), Frankie Magrone (Bethel, CT) and Mike Garrett (Vernon, CT) each scored two goals to lead the winners. Wilson, the Colonials leading scorer this season with 48 total points, handed out a pair of assists as well on Saturday.
Southern Maine, 2-13, 0-7, received a goal each from Austin Watts (Westbrook, ME), Seth Wing (West Gardiner, ME) and Tyler Jamison (West Gardiner, ME).
Kevin Seery (East Lyme, CT) was stellar in goal for the Colonials. He made 11 saves and recorded his team-leading sixth victory.
Ryan Jurgelevich (Portland, ME) made 19 saves as Western unleashed 45 shots on the afternoon.
The Huskies took and early 1-0 lead when Jamison and Luke Johnas (North Bennington, VT) hooked up 2:40 into the contest.
Western rattled off seven straight goals, capped off by Foristall's 32nd marker of the season.
Prior to the start of Saturday's game, the Colonials celebrated the career of their lone senior, Ryan Foster (Ledyard, CT). With 8:05 remaining in the game, Foster scored his 25th goal of the season and is ranked in the top five in all career scoring categories.
