DANBURY, CT - In its second game in 24 hours, the Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team fell to visiting Trinity College, 1-0 at the Westside Athletic Complete on Sunday afternoon.
Senior tri-captain Tim Peng (Taipei, Taiwan) tallied his first goal of the season when he collected a loose ball on the doorstep of WestConn's goal mouth with 48 seconds remaining in the first half.
After intermission, the Colonials picked up the pace, but could not penetrate the Bantams' defense and senior goalie Mateo Zabala (Medellin, Columbia). He finished with just two saves as only two of the Colonials' shot attempts were on goal.
Trinity, now 2-8-1, also played on Saturday as it fell to Bowdoin College, 2-1 in overtime in Hartford. It outshot the Colonials, 18-11 on the afternoon.
"Things are not ticking for us right now," stated WestConn head coach Joe Mingachos. "We can't make excuses about our schedule, we have to ready to play whomever and whenever."
WestConn continues a torrid spell of five games over eight days when it plays host to Albertus Magnus College on Tuesday, October 10. Game time at the WAC is set for 7 pm against the Falcons.
The Bantams host intra-state and NASCAC rival Wesleyan University on Wednesday, October 11 at 7 pm.
