PORT CHARLOTTE, FL - Senior attack Destinee Carey (New Milford, CT) scored four goals in the Western Connecticut State University women's lacrosse 12-9 victory over Mount Holyoke College on Tuesday afternoon.
Leila Kouakou and Charlotte Wagner paced MHC with four and three goals, respectively.
Senior Missy O'Donnell (Bridgeport, CT) earned the victory in goal for the Colonials, now 2-1, as she made eight saves on the afternoon.
"Today was all about communication and listening," acknowledged head coach Jenn Thomas. "Over the last few days, we focused on ourselves and exactly what we needed to work on to be successful."
Isa Rodriguez and Mia Wyusocki split time in net for MHC. Rodriguez made 10 saves while Wysocki turned away four shots.
Carey scored the games first two goals, off free-position attempts, to give the Colonials and early lead, 5:32 into the contest.
Mount Holyoke took a 3-2 lead following a pair of markers from Kouakou and a tally from Wagner.
By intermission, the Colonials built an 8-5 advantage and never looked back.
WestConn gets right back at it on Wednesday when it takes on Franklin and Marshall at Ann Dever Field at 2:30 pm.
