DANBURY, CT – Junior Sarah Sheaffer (New Fairfield, CT) posted stellar scores of 172.35 and 186.52 in the one-meter and three-meter diving events, respectively, as the Western Connecticut women's swimming and diving squad fell to visiting Hunter College, 129-82, on Saturday afternoon at the O'Neil Center. The Colonials dropped to 0-3-1 with the loss, while the Hawks improved to 9-1.
Western freshman Oliva Wright (East Hartford, CT) captured second place in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 28.61 during the fourth event of the day. Shortly thereafter, sophomore Brianna Christiano (Prospect, CT) touched the wall in 2:36.05 to take second in the 200-yard individual medley relay for the hosts.
After Sheaffer's one-meter diving performance, sophomore Rachel Peet (New Fairfield, CT) earned the third spot in the 200-yard butterfly. Junior Holly Bly (Watertown, CT) then finished with another third place showing for Western, as she snagged third in the 100-yard freestyle.
The Colonials return to action at Plymouth State on Monday at 11 a.m.
