WestConn's Albertine Rwabukamba to compete at 17th FINA World Championships

DANBURY, CT -  Western Connecticut State University sophomore Albertine Rwabukamba (Redding, CT) will compete at the 17th FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary later this month for her native country of Rwanda.

Rwabukamba, who leaves for Hungary on Wednesday, July 19, will train with a FINA appointed coach for nine days before qualifying and finals for the 50-meter breaststoke begins on July 29.  

This past season, Rwabukamba's best time in the 50-yard breaststroke was 40.77 against Westfield State University on January 27.

Although she missed the Opening Ceremonies on the 14th, she plans to partake in the Closing Ceremonies on Sunday, July 30.

Rwabukamba joined the Colonials in January after a standout scholastic career at Collège Saint-Vincent Soignies in Belgium.

FINA or Fédération internationale de natation (aka: International Swimming Federation) is the international federation recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for administering international competition in water sports.
