Peet and Wright Excel as Women’s Swimming Falls to Western New England, 167-99
DANBURY, CT – Sophomore Rachel Peet (New Fairfield, CT) won two events, while sophomore Oliva Wright (East Hartford, CT) tallied a first-place finish as the Western Connecticut State University women's swimming and diving team dropped a season-opening decision to visiting Western New England University, 167-99, on Friday night at the O'Neill Center Pool.
 
Peet touched the wall in 2:15.86 to capture the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle. She then notched yet another first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle before seizing second place in the 100-yard IM. 
Wright had an equally impressive showing as she took home a No. 1 finish in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 32.98. Shortly thereafter, she captured a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke for the Colonials. 
 
Sophomore Kayla Snider (Leesburg, VA) paced the Golden Bears with a trio of first place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke, 50-yard butterfly and 100-yard IM. Senior Erika Sheinhait (Framingham, MA) chipped to grab the top spot in the 50 and 100-yard freestyles. 
 
With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 0-1 overall, while Western New England improved to 1-0. WestConn returns to the pool when they travel to cross-state rival Eastern Connecticut on Friday, November 10 at 6 p.m.
