Women's Tennis Improves to 5-2 with 7-2 Win Over Purchase

DANBURY, CT - The WestConn women's tennis team improved to 5-2 overall following a 7-2 victory over visiting non-conference foe Purchase State on Friday at The Westside Courts. Junior Carole Allers (Wilton, CT) and sophomore Emma Chapman (Danbury, CT) paced the Colonials with three points.

"Unfortunately Purchase had to forfeit 2 matches, but our team didn't want to take that foe granted. They were ready," said Colonials head coach Shawn Stillman after the win. Allers and Chapman got things started as they moved to 7-0 in doubles play with a convincing 8-0 win.

They followed up the performance, each notching wins to begin singles competition before sophomore Pooja Dudhedia (Brookfield, CT) and rookie Lesley Coronel (Danbury, CT) also contributed with singles victories.

WestConn returns to action against visiting non-league foe Yeshiva on Monday at 4 p.m.
